HPD – Honda Performance Development primed close gap in Indy Car. Thing to be noted is that HDP got its competitive relief.
Perhaps HPD was not quite tremendous in the previous years. However, we can see the significant progress about HDP starting much of the season. Things to be said that it is overall better in quality and position. The HDP has been competing from the outset of the 2016 season. The drivers who spent much with 2015 season would need to chase down. Chevrolet indeed had such huge advantage in 2015, but we can see through that Honda runs faster now.
Most of folks will be naïve if they sit there and believe that HDP was not developing. In fact, it is exactly the opposite. HDP has proven that they can learn from the past and make some significant change so that they can develop their lines of masterpiece. They can go forward without any interruptions. many reviewers and sport talkers said that Honda engine is always good. The aero kit has been always kicking and hard to be beaten by other manufacturers. Of course ones have their own pros and cons.
HPD has successfully compromised Indycar about the Rule 9.3 which is considered as imbalance. The aero kit regulations are less sensible. This year the rule is changed. Scott Dixon had tested the Chevrolet at the Sonoma raceway along with Rahal’s Honda. This allows the respective brand to make an assessment of the kit used on road. However, they denied the request for larger speedways including Indy 500.
Meanwhile, Honda signed multi year extension to Indycar engine deal. Fans can be expecting to see Honda for the next two years. HDP has confirmed that they will continue as the Indycar partner with the options on the 3rd.
St. Cyr said that it was such complicated series. How did they work to expand the series, got more teams, and more viewership?
By Expanding the contract, they can work together with IndyCar to reach the goals that they have in racing and automotive industry.
indyCar CO, Mark Miles stated that it was nice to have such agreement. He actually had expected this would happen. Now at least public will know the clarity of what will happen for the first year or 2 years of the extension time. Honda definitely gives itself nice time to be existing in the IndyCar. The multi year agreement will ensure their kit’s longevity.
